6/8 @ David & Gladys Wright House…

On Thursday, June 8th, Martha and I had the privilege of joining Debbie Jarson at the David & Gladys Wright House to celebrate not only the 150th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright’s birthday, but to also celebrate the generous donation of the David & Gladys Wright House to the School of Architecture at Taliesin, (formerly known as the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture), by the Rawling family.

The house had been adorned with balloons, emulating the spectacular rug found inside the home’s main living spaces.

Aaron Betsky kicked things off as the first speaker, making the formal announcement to those in attendance, then we heard from city council and planning commission representatives prior to the mayor’s office issuing a proclamation in honor of Frank Lloyd Wright’s birthday. The architectural community was also well-represented with Will Bruder, Wendell Burnette and Michael P. Johnson spotted mingling in the crowd.

We also had the pleasure of congratulating Zach Rawling in person for his family’s generosity as we prepared to make our way north to Taliesin West where we’d find ourselves handing out cupcakes later on that evening – bliss!

Here are links to a .PDF version of both page 1 and page 2 of the press release.
